On October the 1st, myself along with Premier Kathleen Wynne, MPP’sYvan Baker, Michael Chan, Bob Delaney, Monte Kwinter, Mario Sergio,Laura Albanese, Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council, ushered in the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month.
The celebrations included a traditional Mayan ceremony, speeches from MPP’s and Councillors, traditional food and music, and an art exhibition featuring artists from across the Americas. The event was well attended by important members of the Ontario Hispanic-Latino Community from across Latin America and Spain. The reception was made truly special by the shared appreciation for the contributions that the Hispanic-Latino community have made and continue to make in every corner of our society.
I could not be more proud of the fact that my first bill as a Member of Provincial Parliament is Bill 28: An act to Declare October as Hispanic Heritage Month. I thank Premier Wynne, all the Members, Councillors and guests for attending the celebration and recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month.
